Pregnancy care, naturally

We are seeing a huge number of expecting mums in our practice at the moment with our team supporting them with their health throughout their pregnancy. Even one of our own welcomed a baby into their family. Chiropractor Dr Russell and his wife Fiona are enjoying getting to know their baby boy Oliver who was born on September 15th.

All of the services we offer are drug-free and natural approaches to supporting you in your pregnancy;

Chiropractic

Chiropractic is gentle and safe to use through pregnancy for mums-to-be to keep their bodies in top shape, and to manage pain commonly experienced in pregnancy such as sciatica, pelvic girdle pain, or back pain.

Chiropractic effectively treats these complaints as well as general body aches experienced as their body changes throughout the pregnancy term and after birth. Adjusting techniques are modified to suit the pregnant woman and her growing bub. A belly pillow may be used so the pregnant woman can lie face down on the chiro table safely and comfortably.

Massage

 Massages during pregnancy have been shown to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, attenuate leg and back pain, reduce cortisol levels, and show positive effects on immune function. It’s also a great way to relax and prepare your body and mind for the upcoming birth.

Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture have a lot to offer the pregnant patients, from reducing anxiety, helping manage pain or discomfort, and amazingly research has shown that Acupuncture is beneficial in the establishment of labor.

In the early stages of Covid we recall discussion in the media about a predicted spike in pregnancies due to couples isolating together.  We never really saw that play out a year later in our practices with the research showing that the uncertainty was pushing couples to postpone family planning and perhaps less couple time after all. Maybe why we are seeing that spike now, almost 2 years after the pandemic started.
